The real ‘magic money tree’

There’s nothing magic about it; it’s called a bank. It’s the foundation of the entire global financial system. Loans create money out of nothing.

“It’s as if they think there is some magic money tree and let me tell you a plain truth: there isn’t.” PM David Cameron, Mar 2013

“There isn’t a magic money tree that we can shake that suddenly provides for everything that people want.” PM Teresa May, June 2017

“There is no magic money tree.” PM Johnson, written in The Sunday Times, Jan 2022

“There is no magic money tree.” Labour leader Starmer, Mar 2024 (Now PM)

For over a decade UK Prime Ministers have been telling you about this mysterious magic tree.

Which, let’s face it, is odd. Think about it.

Firstly, I can’t find even a shred of evidence of any politician of any stripe ever claiming they’d fund government with magic! So, what are these people talking about!

Secondly, quite obviously, magic doesn’t exist.  But then, where has all this money that successive governments have spent come from? Whilst there’s no magic, there’s certainly plenty of money. £400bn in the pandemic alone! The explanation is simple, it comes from where all money ultimately comes from, the real ‘magic money tree’, a bank. 99.5% of that £400bn came directly from our bank, the Bank of England.

And this is the ‘secret’ that politicians, who remember, don’t work for you, don’t want you to know. That, of course, we have money, and plenty of it.
